As the superstar quarterback of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams, Matthew Stafford knows all about playing in front of big crowds in the biggest of moments at Los Angeles Stadium.
But attending a FIFA World Cup™ match at the venue he calls home was a new experience for the Super Bowl LVI champion and former NFL Most Valuable Player.
"It's great energy, having an international crowd is a lot of fun... to hear different languages and see people from all over the world. My daughters are here with me, so to experience that is pretty cool," Stafford told FIFA following .
"It's a different crowd — it's a more continuous cheering in this brand of football than the one we have. But it's a cool deal."
Stafford even played a role in the post-match celebrations by handing Türkiye star the Superior Player of the Match award.
The 38-year-old has been thrilled to see the global showpiece capture the imagination of Los Angeles and the United States as a whole following the success of the Stars and Stripes, who have qualified for the Round of 32 where they will take on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"It's been really fun — people in America are rallying around the boys with the hot start that they've had, but it's also fun for us to welcome people from all over the world to see what we're all about. I think people are hopefully having a good time," he said.
