A week after they exited the in the group stage, Jordan have parted ways with head coach Jamal Sellami.
Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, confirmed the move in a social media post on Sunday, describing the Moroccan coach’s tenure as ‘exceptional.’
“With the conclusion of your journey with Jordan, we thank you for your efforts and for your contribution to achieving the historic accomplishment of qualifying our national team to the World Cup.
“Your experience with the Nashama has been an exceptional one, and you will always remain a dear son to Jordan, for the sincerity, professionalism, and leadership spirit you have provided.”
Sellami was appointed to the Jordan post in June 2024 and helped steer the nation to a maiden appearance at the global finals.
There, the team was competitive but ultimately lost all three matches against Austria, Algeria and Argentina to finish bottom of Group J.
The nation’s next challenge will come in less than six months when they head to the Asian Cup, looking to improve on a runners-up finish in the previous edition.
