Carlos Queiroz has confirmed he will leave his role as Ghana coach following the Black Stars' last-32 exit at the .
The 73-year-old took on the role in April ahead of the global finals. He successfully guided through the group stage, where they beat Panama 1-0 and secured an impressive 0-0 draw with England.
While they lost 2-1 against Croatia in their final group game, Ghana qualified for the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams. In the Round of 32, the Black Stars were edged out 1-0 by Colombia, which proved to be Queiroz's final game in charge.
"To my president and board, thank you so much for the opportunity to serve the Ghana national football team," said Queiroz in a statement.
"It was an honour and privilege to serve the country and the Black Stars. To my players and staff, my deepest gratitude for your courage, commitment and unwavering dedication to the team. To the fans, we cannot claim complete sporting satisfaction, but we can proudly say that we honoured the colours of Ghana and restored respect and credibility to the Black Stars on football's greatest stage."
