Few players this century are more synonymous with the than Guillermo Ochoa.
The shot-stopper was an unused squad player at Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010, but turned in a string of memorable displays at Brazil 2014, including a stellar performance against the hosts, to propel himself into tournament folklore.
He turned heads again four years later in Russia, before returning to the world stage at Qatar 2022 to famously save a Robert Lewandowski penalty.
Preparing now to travel to a record-equalling sixth tournament, the Mexico legend sat down with FIFA to discuss the three matches that changed his life.
Estadio Castelao, Fortaleza 17 June, 2014
More than 200 million pairs of expectant eyes focused on Estadio Castelao, as Neymar and Co looked to continue Brazil's perfect start to their home tournament. Ochoa, however, had other ideas. After making a stunning, one-handed save to deny a bulleted Neymar header, he made further stops to foil Paulinho, Neymar again and Thiago Silva as Mexico escaped with a point.
Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow 17 June, 2018
Exactly four years on from his barnstorming Brazil display, Ochoa was back turning heads at the finals. Reigning world champions Germany were joint-favourites alongside the Seleção to retain their crown, but got off to the worst possible start in Russia. Hirving Lozano's goal gave the Mexicans a first-half lead, but they were only kept in front when Ochoa got fingertips on a wicked Toni Kroos free-kick, diverting his effort on to the crossbar.
Stadium 974, Doha 22 November, 2022
He may have been 37 by the time Qatar 2022 rolled around, but Ochoa continued to deliver in the big moments. Robert Lewandowski sized up the Mexican custodian from 12 yards and side-footed a powerful penalty towards the bottom corner, only for Ochoa, who had originally feinted right, to dive low to his left and repel the prodigious Pole. Much like Brazil eight years earlier, El Tri owed a goalless draw to their superstar goalkeeper.
