MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — the largest venue in the tournament at 82,500 capacity — is undergoing its final transformation ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The stadium will host eight matches in total, culminating in the World Cup Final on July 19, 2026.

In a major logistical decision, organisers have announced that MetLife Stadium will shift to transit-only access for World Cup matches, meaning all spectators must arrive via public transportation, dedicated shuttle services, or approved ride-share drop-off points. Private vehicles will not be permitted to park at the stadium complex. The move aims to manage the enormous crowds expected across all eight match days.

Sitting just 8 miles from Midtown Manhattan, MetLife's glass and steel exterior gives it a modern, striking appearance. For the World Cup, FIFA is installing additional temporary seating and bespoke football infrastructure, including larger pitch dimensions and enhanced broadcast facilities. The stadium's bowl design promises an electric atmosphere that will be broadcast to billions worldwide.
