Nestor Lorenzo has unveiled the 26-man squad for the , where will take on Congo DR, Portugal and Uzbekistan in Group K.
The Argentinian manager will have at his disposal the core of the squad that reached the final of the CONMEBOL Copa America two years ago — a feat they will aim to replicate in Canada, Mexico and the USA. After missing out on Qatar 2022, Colombia are chomping at the bit ahead of their return to the world’s biggest stage.
The squad is led by superstar Luis Diaz, who has enjoyed a sensational year at Bayern Munich, and James Rodriguez, the team captain and Colombia’s all-time leading scorer in the FIFA World Cup. James prepared for the global showpiece with to Major League Soccer team Minnesota United.
Notably, Lorenzo has named nine midfielders to provide a number of attacking options during the tournament. "In tournaments like the World Cup, it is crucial to have options in the midfield; we aim to cover that area comprehensively," he said.
