Carrasquilla bolsters experienced Panama squad

have announced their 26-man squad for the . Coach Thomas Christiansen's side will take on Croatia, England and Ghana in Group L, with a team boasting many of the same faces that appeared in Panama's first global finals at Russia 2018.

Leading the way is Adalberto Carrasquilla, the straw that stirs the drink in the Panama midfield. The Pumas man will be appearing in his first World Cup and will be the key connection between the Canaleros' defence and attack.

Among the Russia 2018 veterans returning for this edition are the defensive trio of Amir Murillo, Eric Davis and Fidel Escobar, along with goalkeeper Luis Mejia. There is also a nod for experienced midfielder Alberto Quintero, who cruelly missed out on the global finals eight years ago due to a fractured foot sustained on the eve of the tournament.

Midfielders Anibal Godoy and Yoel Barcenas are also back in the World Cup fray to provide support Carrasquilla. Meanwhile, in attack, Ismael Diaz, Jose Fajardo and Cecilio Waterman have all shown tendencies in recent Concacaf competition to score goals in bunches, and their clinical finishing will be needed for a team hoping to put their group opponents to the sword on the counter-attack.
