Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt and Morocco punch tickets

Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt and Morocco have become the latest African teams to qualify for the after reaching the knockout rounds of the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

In Group A of the regional tournament in Morocco, the hosts finished in first place following a 2-1 victory over Egypt to qualify for a third straight global finals. Egypt, for their part, were still able to secure second place after Ethiopia bagged an injury-time winner over Tunisia.

Meanwhile in Group B, Côte d'Ivoire topped the table following a 2-2 draw with Uganda, for whom Ibanda Arafat scored from the penalty spot in the 14th minute of injury time to secure a dramatic point. Cameroon finished second with a narrow 1-0 victory over Congo DR.

Côte d'Ivoire are taking part in their second successive global finals, while Cameroon are participating for the first time since Brazil 2019.

Elsewhere, Tanzania have already qualified for Qatar 2026 as , with three further teams ready to punch their tickets on Wednesday: the runners-up in Group C and top-two teams in Group D.

Two additional places will be decided by the winners of two play-off games between the four third-placed teams in the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations group stage, which include Ethiopia and Uganda.
