Javier Aguirre is heading to his third World Cup as a coach, back in charge of a Mexico side he first led at Korea/Japan 2002 and then again at South Africa 2010. This time, El Vasco's objective is to equal the team's best-ever performance on home soil (Mexico 1970 and 1986), when they reached the quarterfinals.
The squad is notable for the inclusion of Ochoa, who will make history by participating in his sixth World Cup. Also noteworthy is the inclusion of seven players from Chivas, a club with an all-Mexican squad.
