African quartet complete Morocco 2026 jigsaw

Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Zambia have secured their tickets to the ™. The tenth edition of the global finals is set to run from 17 October to 7 November later this year.

African qualifying for the finals begun in April, with 22 nations battling for four spots. After coming through the opening two rounds of qualifying, a series of home-and-away ties decided which nations would qualify.

Today's results mean the 24-team field for Morocco 2026 is now completed. The four African nations will join hosts Morocco, with a further five teams from Europe, four from Asia, four from Concacaf, four from CONMEBOL and two from Oceania also set to compete.

Senegal 1-1 Ghana Ghana 1-1 Senegal

Ghana qualified for a first finals since Uruguay 2018 following a nail-biting shootout win over Senegal. After both legs finished 1-1, the Black Maidens held their nerve in the shootout, with Jessica Appiah Asamoah netting the decisive kick.

South Africa 0-2 Kenya Kenya 3-1 South Africa

After missing the 2025 edition, Kenya are back for just their second appearance at the finals following a pair of victories over South Africa. Kenya brought a 2-0 lead back to Nairobi, and while South Africa cut the deficit early in the second leg, three unanswered goals saw them return to the global stage in style.

Nigeria 3-2 Benin Benin 3-5 Nigeria

Nigeria secured their spot at a ninth finals thanks to a pair of pulsating wins over Benin. The Flamingos edged a home victory, before Queen Joseph notched a hat-trick in the reverse leg to see them to a 5-3 triumph.

Zambia 2-1 Ethiopia Ethiopia 1-1 Zambia

Zambia downed Ethiopia to ensure they will play at a third straight showpiece. A narrow victory in Ndola left it all to play for as they headed to Addias Ababa. Precious Mwewa – as she did in the first leg – opened the scoring, and while Ethiopia levelled late on, they couldn't find another to force extra time.
