2026 World Cup Odds: Haaland Skyrockets In Historic Golden Boot Race

Two things have undoubtedly been true this summer: The superstars are shining, and the Golden Boot odds seem to be changing every minute.

Just hours ago, the Golden Boot looked like a two-horse race between Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi.

Then, Erling Haaland arrived.

Haaland scored two goals in the span of 11 minutes to help Norway advance to its first World Cup quarterfinal in its nation's history.

Having netted his third brace of the summer, he is now tied for the tournament lead in goals at seven with Mbappé and Messi.

This is the first time in World Cup history that three different players have scored seven or more goals in a single edition of the tournament.

As a result, Haaland surged up the Golden Boot oddsboard from +3500 to +600.

On Saturday, after recording his second brace of the tournament in France's Round of 32 win over Sweden, Kylian Mbappé scored his 19th career World Cup goal in the Round of 16 against Paraguay.

Mbappé is now also up to 11 knockout stage goals, extending his record for the most in World Cup history.

Despite Haaland's charge up the oddsboard, Mbappé remains the favorite to win the award at +100.

Meanwhile, after his 29th minute goal against Cape Verde, Messi has now scored in eight consecutive World Cup matches, extending his own record for the longest streak.

Messi is now up to 20 career World Cup goals, extending another record, this one for the most goals by any man or woman in World Cup history.

He has now scored seven of Argentina's 11 goals this tournament, and became the first player since the 1960s to score in five straight knockout stage games.

Let's dive into the updated Golden Boot odds at FanDuel Sportsbook as of July 5.

Golden Boot Winner 2026 Kylian Mbappé: +100 (bet $10 to win $20 total)Lionel Messi: +165 (bet $10 to win $26.50 total)Erling Haaland: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)Harry Kane: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)Mikel Oyarzabal: +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total)Ousmane Dembélé: +5500 (bet $10 to win $560 total)Cristiano Ronaldo: +7000 (bet $10 to win $710 total) Here's what to know about this oddsboard: The Tally: So far this summer, Messi, Mbappé and Haaland have seven goals, Kane has five, and Ousmane Dembélé, Mikel Oyarzabal and Vini Jr.

History Made: With his hat trick against Algeria, Messi tied Miroslav Klose for the most goals in men's World Cup history with 16, while also setting the record as the oldest player (38) to record a hat trick, passing Cristiano Ronaldo.

In Argentina's second game against Austria, Messi scored twice to put some space between himself and Klose.

Then, after coming on as a sub in the second half of Argentina's last group stage match against Jordan, Messi added another, this time via a lovely free kick.

Now, after his goal against Cape Verde, Messi has scored in every game so far this World Cup.

Mbappé, with his offensive performance so far this tournament, now has 19 career World Cup goals, passing Klose as the second-most in men’s World Cup history.

We are more than likely to see this record go back and forth the rest of the summer.
